Waiting on your call.

Waiting on your call.

April 27, 2017

Elliot,

This week, via email, I discussed your name with Joe Bullard after your failure to call me this week, as earlier promised. Not knowing you, I took your original reply, back in February, at face value. I don’t know if my latest essay about Mayor Stimpson led to you changing your mind about a possible meeting or if you never really intended to meet with me. As CEO and Chairman of Gulf Distributing, I assume you keep your word and that’s the source of your success. How you run Gulf is your business, but how you run the Mobile Airport Authority as the new Chairman is the public’s.

My interest in moving the airport back to Brookley is well-documented and finally led to Mr. Herb Messier resignation, as previous Chairman, and your appointment to the board. So, you can thank me for your new assignment from the mayor. Mr. Messier was resistant to the idea of discussing any possible airport relocation and now we have you who doesn’t want to keep your word as the newest public appointee. Is this necessary in poor ol’ Mobile? Can we put our egos aside and come together to work for a greater cause? Isn’t this the idea behind Mayor Stimpson’s campaign theme of “One Mobile”? Are the rich and their worldviews in Mobile more important than say a poor man like me? Which one of us is really living in reality? You don’t want me to answer that question!

I standby my phone, waiting for your call.
